Day 1:Chalkida – Amphipolis – Serres
Morning departure from Chalkida with intermediate stops to start our program with an excursion to Amphipolis, with the ancient city, the famous Leo and the Tomb on Kasta Hill. Visit to the Archaeological Museum, where findings from the surrounding area are exhibited. Then we depart for Serres. It is a modern city, with a plethora of amenities and great tourist interest. Day 2: Roupel Fortress – Istipei – Lake Kerkini
Breakfast and visit to the historical line of forts Metaxas-Istibey, following the route to Promachonas-Roupel. We will tour the Military Museum and parts of the largest fortification complex along the Greek-Bulgarian border. We continue to Lake Kerkini. Information about the wetland and time for lunch or optional boating on the banks. Return to the hotel.
Day 3: Monastery of Timios Prodromos – Ano & Kato Poroia
After we have breakfast we depart for the Holy Monastery of Timios Prodromos, which is an important and at the same time amazingly beautiful pilgrimage on the slopes of Mount Menikio. Then we will visit Ano & Kato Porioia. Two beautiful villages, at a distance of 54 km. from Serres, which function as a twin destination. First you will find Kato Poroia, a small, picturesque village with a low profile and about 350 inhabitants, where the tranquility of the landscape, the sounds of nature and the images of a traditional Greece relieve the visitor from atheism. With the main axis of the square, tour the village and do not forget to taste the traditional, excellent flavors in the tavern To Kioski. Meet 3 magical villages of Serres as if they came out of a fairy tale! Continuing, just 2 km. away, you will find Ano Porioia. Perched on the back of Mount Beles, at a height of 400 m. and overlooking Lake Kerkini, the main village of the area, with about 800 inhabitants, can easily boast that it belongs to the most beautiful and most touristic villages of the entire prefecture. Here you will walk in small alleys next to traditional houses of Macedonian and Epirus style, you will rest in one of the cafes of the square and you will taste fine flavors next to the stream. Excellent traditional dishes and a warm atmosphere we enjoyed in the tavern Let's Go Square and coffee with delicious homemade sweets in Τintza'es Café. Continuing, you will wander among beeches and perennial plane trees, you will pass over streams, you will be enchanted by the beauties of nature and you will discover the treasures of the place... on horseback, since horse riding is the absolute must do. Return to the hotel.
Day 4: Holy Monastery of Panagia Ikosifinissa-Chalkida
Breakfast, and departure for the Holy Monastery of Panagia Ikosifinissa (weather permitting), through a very picturesque route. Panagia Ikosifinissa, with her miraculous icon, which is one of the largest pilgrimages in Macedonia and is the oldest active monastery in Greece and Europe. . Then we will return to Chalkida where we will arrive early in the evening.
